Randwick City Council is an innovative and progressive Council committed to serving our vibrant community on the eastern beaches of Sydney. Our Library Services Team is seeking a Resource Management Officer.
Purpose:
The Resource Management Officer is responsible for the acquisition, cataloguing, processing and maintenance of library materials in both physical and digital formats. This role includes supervision of team members who carry out these tasks, ensuring operational accuracy, consistency, and efficiency. The role also supports the effective delivery of library and customer services across all service points, ensuring a high-quality and consistent experience for the community.
About the role:
Contribute to all Resource Management tasks, including cataloguing and processing library materials to required standards across all formats - books, audiovisual items, toys and games, serials, local history resources, and digital collections.
Undertake and oversee acquisition tasks using the Library Management System and Council’s finance system, maintaining accurate records of orders, payments and liaising with vendors.
Deliver excellent quality customer service across all service points, resolving most enquiries and interactions with a positive outcome.
About you:
Diploma in Library & Information Science or equivalent (minimum qualification)
Demonstrated knowledge of library management systems (LMS) and experience in using LMS in a public library to deliver customer service and library processes.
Demonstrated understanding of cataloguing principles and standards, to ensure accurate resource description and enhance discovery and access for the community.
High level of digital literacy, with the ability to learn new systems and support customers and staff with changing library technologies.
Ability to work independently, including the ability to problem solve, manage, and prioritise competing work demands.
Demonstrated understanding of a customer focused service and experience in delivering customer service in a public library.
