Flying Bark Productions is a dynamic and innovative animation studio dedicated to pushing the boundaries of character animation and storytelling. We are working on exciting projects such as Avatar: The Last Airbender feature film, Netflix's Ghostbusters animated series and Stranger Things animated series, as well as our production Tales From Outer Suburbia by Shaun Tan.
About the role:
Run character related FX and simulations including but not limited to cloth, hair, rigid body, crowd, or muscles, in particular using nCloth in Maya and Vellum in Houdini for cloth sim
Work closely with VFX Supervisors and Leads to determine the best approach to solve effects challenges and develop final look in shot development
Running simulations for shot production; troubleshooting and providing revisions based on Supervisor/Lead feedback
Shot sculpting and/or cleaning existing character related simulations
Adding secondary motion to 3D animation where needed
Adding further simulation on other assets such as geometry hair clumps, muscle, feathers etc. if required
Support pipeline animation principles, timing and departmental interdependencies
Maintain a consistent level of productivity while meeting deadlines and producing high quality work.
About you:
Excellent communication skills.
Up to date and in-depth knowledge of Maya and Houdini
Experience programming/scripting with Python, MEL, VEX and/or C++
Ability to develop techniques and processes to solve simulation production challenges.
